DYBB - Registration Information

Sign up now for our Brass Band Day and Our Winter/Spring Session!

Brass and Percussion Day!

The Brass and Percussion Day is sure to be a fun day with some great area clinicians working to put together simple arrangements of "Soda Pop" and "Crazy Train." We do ask that you please sign up ahead of time so that we can plan ahead for parts. If you don't know until the day of, it's not a problem as long as most of the kids let us know ahead of time. We'll be sure to have extra parts! This is a free event with easier music and flexible parts, so bring lots of friends!

DYBB Winter/Spring Session

The North American Brass Band Championship's youth section podium-finishing band, the Dublin Youth Brass Band, will be starting our winter/spring term on January 4th, 2026. Once again, we will be playing at the Dublin Brass Band Showcase and competing at the Dublin Festival of Brass and the North American Brass Band Championships. The band is open to high school and advanced middle school brass and percussion players. If you're interested, please either scan the QR code on our poster or sign up google doc form. Our major work this year will be Johann de Meij's The Hobbits and a brand-new slow melody work from internationally-recognised composer Lucy Pankhurst.

The band has a suggested donation of $150 per term, but this ensemble is a pay-as-youre-able ensemble, which means that if this doesn't fit your family budget, pay what does fit or nothing at all, no questions asked. Participants are asked to send in a short (1-2 minute) playing sample to [email protected] by Christmas with your instrument and name as the subject so that we can get to know new players and hear how much our past players have improved since last year. If you do not send in a sample, we will place you based on either where you played last year or how many years you've been on your instrument, which may not be accurate. Please email [email protected] with any questions. We're excited to get started!

Rehearsals for this year are from 4:30-6:30 at Northwestern Christian Church (Upper Arlington) unless otherwise noted:

We aim to be an inclusive ensemble -  if you can't afford the full fee or have multiple kids in the band, feel free to use the "other" option to enter an amount that works better for you.

Next, in January, we'll be starting up our winter/spring term of the full Dublin Youth Brass Band! Once again, we'll be playing at the Dublin Brass Band Showcase and competing at the Dublin Festival of Brass and the North American Brass Band Championships. After I send this email, I'll be going over to the website to put in our rehearsal dates or you can find them in the description on the top of our sign up google doc form. Our major work this year will be Johann de Meij's The Hobbits and a brand-new slow melody work from internationally-recognised composer Lucy Pankhurst. Lucy won British composer of the year once and has been nominated four times since.

Please sign up early this year so that I don't have a heart attack wondering which chairs that I need to fill. We'll need a bass trombone player (not just low tenor) this year, so ask some friends. We'll need six percussionists while we usually only need three, so help me with some recruitment! Also, I request that you please send in a short 1-2 minute playing sample before Christmas so that we can know how much you've improved since last year!

Donate to Brass for Children
Your gift will provide BFC with the support we need to continue to give free music lessons for underprivileged children!  Brass for Children is a music-based CBO established on the edges of Bwindi Forest in Kanungu, Western Uganda.  Our mission is to help children and youths through love and joy of music in Butogota.
